Plan your safe visit to museums and galleries

Welcome back, we hope you had some well-deserved time off. Most museums and galleries are now ready to welcome visitors back for brand new events and exhibitions. There are some excellent shows in the pipeline, so get your calendars ready.

While we're still in the middle of a pandemic, let's all follow some basic safety guidelines to make sure our trips to any IRL event or exhibition is safe for everyone.

Before your visit

(1) Most museums and galleries have had to significantly limit their visitor numbers. They've now introduced timed slots or are open by appointment only. Book your visit online in advance or confirm attendance via email.

(2) While we're trying our best to stay on top of all the moving parts, we might not always get it right. Please check organisers' websites to confirm opening times and guidelines on the day of your visit.

(3) If possible, make your journey by cycling or walking. If you make a journey on public transport, avoid travelling at peak times and wear a face covering.

After your visit

The last four months have been incredibly challenging for our entire industry. Art spaces, galleries and museums of all sizes face a severely uncertain future. With their doors shut for such a long time, and income generated via admissions, hospitality and other activities lost, complete closure was, and still is, a real prospect for many spaces. Times are hard for everyone, but if you are one of the lucky ones or if you can offer financial support, there are few ways you can do that: You can make a donation to your favourite space, become a member or have a cuppa at their coffee shop.
