Greetings Friends and Colleagues:
As many of you know, iNERDE has embarked on an ambitious agenda to grow and strengthen our impact in sub-Saharan Africa. Across the African continent, communities depend on young innovative thinkers with technological skills. However, underinvestment and lack of tools & opportunity restrain the youths' ability to enter the STEM fields. iNERDE is deeply committed to changing this reality.
Incidentally, the past few months have been quite eventful at iNERDE -from iNERDE-led TeamMali’s victory in First Global Robotic competition in Washington-DC, to the successful revamp of the "Ntomo Innovation Academy" summer camps. These events gave us wonderful reasons to celebrate and were also important opportunities to reflect on our accomplishments and our path ahead. This has certainly been true for my leadership team, an all-star roster of nerdy leaders, who have led iNERDE through its greatest success stories.
This year is unfortunately also marked by the departure of our team members, a true nerdy all-star, Michael Leventhal. In the last 16 months, Michael activily participated in all aspects of iNERDE-Mali activities and brilliantly led the Robotic program in Mali, coaching the children through two international robotics competitions and also. He personally expressed to me his satisfaction in our progress, gratitude for the iNERDE-Mali team, but he is now ready to tackle new challenges. Michael has been a good friend, teammate and leader. He has earned the respect of all of the iNERDE excesutive team and I thank him for all his dedicated service, passion and enthousiasm since leaving his job in Silicon Valley and moving to Mali to bring a culture of innovation through education.
Going forward, Mohamed M. Sankare will lead the team in Mali as the Vice-president of iNERDE-Mali. M. Sankare has been a part of local team in Mali leading efforts like incorporation and human resource management since 2014. I am confident that his professionalism, attention to detail and ability to adjust to local needs and ressources will enable iNERDE Mali to scale up its impact and fulfill our main mission of youth empowerment.
To keep up our momentum and end the year on a high note, the team in Mali is working diligently with the other members of the steering committees of Fete des Sciences and Salon de l'Enfance de Bamako (SEBA) to make these events successful. I can't thank you enough for your support that enabled us to do great work! Our success is equally yours.
With purpose 🤓,
Mohamed T. Kante
