Greetings Friends and Colleagues:
iNERDE Inc. was founded on the fundamental belief that access to STEM education can create incredible possibilities for children. During the past four years of operation, we created several educational programs that changed the lives of hundreds of youth in Francophone Africa. How can we scale our program to impact the lives of millions by 2030? This was the question the iNERDE leadership team set out to answer... AND we figured it out!
Our first camp took place in 2014 with 30 students from Bamako, Mali. The following year, we doubled that number in Mali and established another camp in Dakar, Senegal. The year after that (in 2016), we developed a variety of modules to ensure that there is new material each year for repeating students because the program was not designed for students to return year after year. Today, we offer tailored programs for students from the 4th to the 12th grade depending on their interest and academic level. Additionally, among iNERDE’s many successes, we built and trained with local collaborators, the first Malian robotic team AKA “TEAM MALI” to participate in FIRST Global’s international robotics competition held in Washington DC in 2017. “TEAM MALI” was awarded a silver medal for Engineering Design.
The point is: we successfully developed programs that empowered hundreds. Now, we must sustainably generate revenue that will enable us to reach MILLIONS of individuals who need our programs in Africa. For the past 4 months, the iNERDE leadership team have been quiet but we meet consistently to work on an effective strategic plan. This was an opportunity to renew our energy and enthusiasm for what we are doing. As a result, we have specific plans of action for us for both the near and longer term.
Going forward, iNERDE will address Africa's pressing need for effective STEM education through two platforms: curriculum development & dissemination AND professional development of teachers & educators in Africa. Our goal is to get One Million youths in Africa to participate in iNERDE's "Ntomo Innovation Academy" regardless of social, economic background & gender by the year 2030.
The stage is set for growth and impact. That means we are ready to materialize our vision to accelerate Africa's transition to a sustainable development workforce by educating children so they can seize opportunities in the 21st century. There are some exciting updates we have planned for 2018 and beyond. During the next couple of weeks, I will share with you how we intend to work toward making our vision a reality! Stay tuned…
With purpose 🤓,
