FEATURED ARTIST
Photo and details by Zac Collopy

Cayman K. is working in his studio here at Front St. Cayman's process typically begins by cutting and shaping pieces of found wood. On top of which Cayman paints reoccurring animals and characters by rapidly adding layers of colorful paint. The end result are energetic and expressive works of folk art.

Process shots and more about Cayman K. can be found on our Facebook and Instagram!  Follow us @frontstreetartist to learn more about new studios and galleries each month!

EDU GALLERY

“Performance artist plans to smash a guitar sword.”

John has made an eight foot long sword of ukuleles — designed to be smashed.  Attached to the “sword” is a contact microphone and a delay effect. The sonic smash will be the loudest “guitar sword” ever destroyed. These shenanigans will play out in front of a towering wall of cardboard guitar amplifiers. The act will feature songs and magic tricks.  Plenty of give away prizes for attendees.

His costume consists of a plastic crown tilted on a black ski mask with a red clown nose. Over his shoulders is a red cape which covers portions of his black turtleneck sweater.  His platform shoes resemble small red tractors.  These different icons reflect the split personalities required to survive as an artist: vampire, king, clown and criminal.
