ANNOUNCEMENTS

Registration is now open for the Third Annual Aga Khan Conference/Workshop: Sharia, Government and Development on April 4-5. The workshop brings together scholars whose works explore the relationships between Islamic law, governance, and socioeconomic development in early modern and modern settings. Registration is required.

Registration is also open for Middle East Studies|Brown's second Engaged Scholarship Workshop: Embedded! Archaeologists & Anthropologists in Modern Landscapes of Conflict on May 1-2. This workshop will provide a platform for an open and critical discussion of the ethical consequences of archaeological and anthropological fieldwork in conflict zones in the Middle East, collaborations with the military and what it means to be embedded in the military complex in both the contemporary and the historical contexts. Registration is required.

DEADLINES APPROACHING FOR SENIOR CONCENTRATORS
 
Senior concentrators must send final copies of their theses or capstones to Anthony Watson and their advisers and sign up for presentation slots by April 15. The presentations of capstones and theses will be held on May 7, 2014 in the Joukowsky Forum.
