World Mental Health Day and
World Teachers' Day!

Hello kids, parents and teachers!  This fortnight, there are two very important days in the calendar.  First up, we have World Teachers' Day on 5th October. And on 10th October we celebrate World Mental Health Day.

Everything in our newsletter is designed for you to use with children
in the classroom or at home.  Click on Greig’s video to see what it is all about and why looking after our mental health is so important.  Don't forget to look below for some fabulous free resources as well as our video story time for you to enjoy.

Kind Challenge

In this video, Greig tells us what mental health is and why it is so important. We have a new challenge for you and we're announcing the winners of our Summer Kindness Challenge. Remember to look out for Ned Kindlebottom!

Kind Story

After struggling with their own mental health growing up, friends Shaun and Paul wanted to do something to help others live a more positive life.  Shaun was a primary school teacher and Paul was a life coach – so they put their skills together and came up with a brand called Spiffy - The Happiness Shop (  They opened a shop and have hundreds of products ‘specially chosen or created to help make people’s lives happier’.   Their product ‘Remindfuls - Mindful Reminders for Kids’ has inspired our kind challenge (see below) this week where you are invited to make your own self-care mantra.

World Mental Health Day Challenge

Complete our World Mental Health Day challenge and you could win a £20 Live Spiffy voucher!

The winning self-care mantra will also be mocked up into your very own Remindful template
(see above).

Story Time

We're back for story time!  Thanks to Fox, age 6 from Essex who watched last week's story twice because he loved it so much!  This week, we have chosen 'I'm (Almost) Always Kind' by Anna Milbourne.

We hope you enjoy watching at home or in the classroom!

Show & Tell: World Teachers' Day

To mark World Teachers' Day, children from St. Bede C of E Primary School in Winchester have been conducting secret shout-outs to members of staff. We reviewed the wonderful messages and after much deliberation, we would like to celebrate Mr Winter. He received shout-outs for many reasons, including: for always making me smile; making the days go quickly; making lessons fun; helping me believe in myself and making me laugh with your jokes! Congratulations, Mr Winter, a special certificate is coming your way!

We would of course, like to thank all teachers out there who are working so hard for the well-being and education of children. You are our heroes!

Did You Know?

A book has been written all about high-fiving yourself in the mirror in the morning!
Mel Robbins studied how people can improve their lives by only making small changes. In her book ‘The High Five Habit’ she discovered that if you look in the mirror in the morning and ‘high five’ your reflection, your mental health will improve! It is all about believing in yourself, getting more confidence and achieving your goals. Go You!

Self-Kindness Tip

Try saying a daily mantra to your reflection in the mirror.  It could be: ‘I believe in you’ or ‘You can do amazing things’ or simply, ‘Take time to rest today.’

While you are there, why not give yourself a high five and start a new daily routine?!
