Background Music

From "Fat", a story by Raymond Carver, one of my favorites: "Waiting for what? I'd like to know."

I too am waiting for something, though I don't know what. And sometimes, while waiting, I find myself listening to Ry Cooder

What is Beauty?

From Jose Marti:

I cultivate a white rose
In July as in January
For the sincere friend
Who gives me his hand frankly
And for the cruel person who tears
out the heart with which I live,
I cultivate neither nettles nor thorns:
I cultivate a white rose
The Murder of FictFact
One of my favorite websites was FictFact, which promoted series books by allowing people like me to easily keep track of series books I had read, and which notified me when a new one came out.
Well, add FictFact to the long list of worthy businesses killed by Amazon, yet another reason why I hope Jeff Bezos' yacht sinks in the harbor and his spaceships corrode on their launchpads:

All you will read if you go today to the website is: "FictFact is closed.  We recently lost our primary source of income, Amazon Associate sales. Due to a minor error on our part, we unknowingly had in infraction of their terms. We tried to appeal after we corrected the issue, but were not successful and they terminated our account. Over the years, we have had donations from our wonderful supporters, but it is not enough to cover our operating costs. We are extremely sad to have to close down the site after almost 10 years. Thank you for all your support! Please login to download your book data as a CSV file before July 1, 2019."
FictFact was maintained by Brain Scan Studios, an independent comic book publisher. F
ounded in 1999 by Brian Kirsten, its focus is one-shots, mini-series and graphic novels. If you are a fan of comics and graphic novels, please consider checking them out
And Think About This:
