Dave Johns: From Byker to the BAFTAs
Friday 11th October
at 7.30pm

Dave Johns is one of the most respected and best loved comedians working on the British comedy circuit. An avuncular Geordie with plenty to say and some amazing fun facts, Dave has performed extensively in venues, clubs and festivals in the UK and worldwide for over 30 years, and is a popular guest on television comedy shows.

"Shifting from hilarity to uproar to genius in the blink of an eye" - The Guardian2016 saw Dave play the lead role in Ken Loach's critically acclaimed and multi award winning film I, DANIEL BLAKE which won the Palme D'or at the Cannes Film Festival and the BAFTA for the Outstanding British Film. As Daniel, Dave received glowing reviews and numerous award nominations.

This show looks at how the film has - and hasn't - changed his life, and is sprinkled with sharp one-liners and obesrvations which are all Byker and no BAFTAs!

Tickets £12 from Masham Community Office on 01765-680200 or online here.

N.B. Dave also stars in our #MoviesinMasham showing of Fisherman's Friends on 20 November!

Movies in Masham: Mary Queen of Scots
Wednesday 20th October at 7.30pm

The story of the doomed Scottish Queen and her cousin Elizabeth I, bought to life by stunning performances from Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie. The film follows their relationship as cousins, as monarchs, as politicians and as women in a man's world, and is a fine example of how a costume drama can be both historical and relevant.

Certificate 15. All tickets £5, from Masham Community Office or on the door.

Nae Plans and Andreas Tophøj & Rune Barslund

Friday 25th October at 7.30pm

Two brilliantly creative duos, Scotland’s Nae Plans (Adam Sutherland and Hamish Napier) and Denmark’s Andreas Tophøj & Rune Barslund, combine forces for a captivating night of music, song and stories, following their earlier sell-out concert and collaboration at Scotland’s prestigious Celtic Connections festival.

Taking their cue from the spontaneity of the traditional music session, two of Scotland’s finest folk musicians, Hamish Napier (piano, flute, whistle, vocals) and Adam Sutherland (fiddle) come together as ‘Nae Plans’. With raw creativity and outstanding musical intuition, these innovative artists blend self-penned music and songs with the traditional, putting the audience at the centre of a dynamic and engaging performance.

Contemporary Danish folk music is renowned for its inventive interplay with other traditions and genres, and the young fiddle/viola/accordion duo of Andreas Tophøj & Rune Barslund are among those leading the charge. Andreas and Rune splice Nordic, Celtic and Americana influences into sparkling original compositions.

See Nae Plans in action here at the Skriven Sessions, and Andreas and Rune here.

Tickets £12, available from Masham Community Office on 01765-680200 or online here.
