• In the Chrome web browser, the Speech Recognition feature uses browser-set language to translate speech-to-text in SpeedGrader. This allows the speech-to-text feature to recognize multiple languages.
• Instructors can customize file access in published courses, allowing them to manage the visibility of specific files in published courses for students.
• The Calendar Event Title Tooltip is now enforced in Canvas for all users.

To be released November 9

• Users that have both instructor and student roles will have distinct and separate to-do lists displayed in their sidebars so that they can differentiate between their lists.
• New Quiz outcome data is available in the Learning Mastery Gradebook, Student Learning Mastery Gradebook, and the admin account-level Outcome Results report. This update allows users to collect outcome data from New Quizzes to improve usage of Competency and Standards-Based Grading.
• Feature option: instructors can use the cropping tool in the RCE (Rich Content Editor) Icon Maker on touch devices, providing more device options for customizing icons.

• Admin and Sub-account admins can create an account calendar with events and important dates to display to users. In Canvas Calendars, users have the option to subscribe to Account Calendars in the Other Calendars section. This allows schools to share important school or University-wide dates with instructors and students.
• Instructors can view a summary of alignments to the Outcomes in their course. They can use a filter to view all Outcomes, view only those with alignments, or those without alignments.
• The Allow Multiple File AGS Submissions Count as One Submission feature option will be enforced for all users. When using third-party tools to upload assignments, files submitted together will display to instructors as a single submission in Speedgrader.
• Feature option: the Schedule Page Publication default status has been updated. Instructors can prepare and schedule pages in advance to automatically publish on a specific date and time.

New Quizzes announcement

It’s official! Canvas has removed the deadline for transitioning to New Quizzes. In the coming months we will work with you to plan a migration process that meets your school's needs.

• Scheduled workflows run at a specific time. Set a workflow to run on a recurring basis and choose when the workflow begins and ends.
• The new Workflow Homepage allows users to track and monitor workflows and navigate to each project or area where the workflow is used.
• Accessibility has been improved for the slider question type in surveys that have applied the Simple layout.
• The survey collaboration window is now accessible in compliance with WCAG 2.0 AA requirements.

• To find recent conversations, all sent messages are visible in a new tabbed sidebar page called "Drafts & Sent."  This page combines the Drafts and Scheduled sidebar pages alongside the new Sent tab.
• Members can be added to existing direct messages with the option to share message history from a specific date.
• Improvements have been rolled out to Slack Huddles including:
  • Lightweight video with one click multi-person screen sharing, drawing, and cursors 
  • Emoji, reactions, and “stickers” 
  • Message threads that automatically save to channel
