Yesterday, Atlassian identified a security vulnerability within the Confluence collaboration platform used to host Wiki sites, including Harvard Wiki sites. We have received reports that this vulnerability is being actively exploited in some Confluence instances. We’re awaiting a patch from Atlassian to fix the vulnerability which is expected to be released today.
To protect Harvard systems from compromise we are temporarily restricting access to Harvard Wiki sites to users connected to the Harvard VPN or the Harvard campus network.
This means external users will not be able to access Harvard Wiki sites until the vulnerability has been fixed.
What do I need to do? If you need to access a Harvard Wiki site, you’ll need to either connect to VPN using these instructions, or access it from the Harvard network on campus.
Where can I get help? If you need help connecting to VPN, or if you experience issues accessing Harvard Wiki sites after connecting, contact the HUIT Service Desk or your school’s local IT support.
