  • Observers who are linked to multiple students can select which student’s dashboard they want to view so that they can view one student’s information at a time.
  • Feature Options
    • The Improved Outcomes Management feature will be set to Allow, so schools can choose to enable it. This feature now includes the Average calculation Method, so that admins and instructors can use the Average method to calculate a final outcome score as a simple, unweighted average of all item scores for that outcome.
    • The Account and Course Level Outcome Mastery Scales feature option will be enabled.
      • When enabled, the default mastery ratings will display a 0-4 scale.
      • If a rubric with aligned outcomes has been used to assess an assignment before Account and Course Level Outcome Mastery Scales are enabled, the assignment is not affected. However, any assignments not previously assessed by the rubric are affected if mastery scores are adjusted.

Feature delay

The target release date for the Virtual Assistant available through the Canvas help menu, described last month, has been moved to the end of 2022.

Classic Quizzes deprecation

Instructure plans to replace Classic Quizzes with New Quizzes. Join the Quizzes Transition User Group to follow updates on the transition.

Bulk migration of Classic Quizzes to New Quizzes is available only in our beta environments (residential beta, ExEd beta). Instructure has postponed releasing the bulk migration feature to production until the new RCE is integrated with New Quizzes. There is no set date for completing this integration, although it is currently being worked on as noted in the Transparency into Quizzes Planning page

If needed, the ability to migrate individual quizzes is available. Be sure to note the caveats in the documentation.

There is currently no advertised retirement date.  The feature is not being updated and we received reports that it has become less reliable. Please continue to convert your Email Triggers to Email Tasks using the newer Workflows feature and let your users know to do the same as soon as they can

Slack

  • Slack logoUsers can upload an image to use as their background when they record a video clip.
  • The sidebar has been simplified so that there are fewer icons, items are reorganized in menus, and notification badges aren’t as bright.
  • The most common Apple and Microsoft file extensions have been added to the approved list so users won’t be asked to confirm each time they open a Word doc or Keynote presentation.
