Understanding Generation Z 
Writing Women's Stories
What are the hopes and dreams of young people around the world? On March 15, 2022, Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai organized a program entitled, “Generation Z and the Changing World” featuring Dr. Vishakha Desai, Chair of the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University, moderated by the Center’s Director, Dr. Ravina Aggarwal.
 
How has fiction offered meaning for the trauma and injustice suffered by women? “I look at reality like broken pieces of a jigsaw puzzle and fiction is kind of how I figure out how those pieces fit together,” explained writer Naheed Phiroze Patel on March 3, 2022 in a virtual program organized by Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai. 
 
Demonstrating Innovation 
How can we measure the success of early-stage startups? Through a technically sound, commercially viable on-ground pilot. Demonstration pilots were a critical part of the mentorship and support provided to startups selected for the Urban Works Innovation Challenge of 2020-2021, a project run by Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai and the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science.
Nature Talks: Podcast With Professor Ruth Defries
In a new podcast series, Nature Talks, Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai brings you perspectives from leading experts in the field of environmental sustainability. Our first episode features Ruth Defries, University Professor, Denning Family Professor of Sustainable Development at Columbia University, and Co-founding Dean of the Columbia Climate School. Listen to her talk about the UN Decade for Ecosystem Restoration, and the opportunities it presents for India in conversation with the Center's Director, Dr. Ravina Aggarwal.
Cervical Cancer Awareness
In India, every eight minutes, one woman dies of cervical cancer, one of the most preventable and treatable cancers when identified early. As part of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, the Center launched a social media information campaign in January 2022 to address the lack of awareness on cervical cancer in India and promote prevention and screening.
 
Columbia Programs for High School Students
With more and more students looking to go abroad for higher education, the admissions process can be complex and competitive. Columbia Global Centers | Mumbai hosted two virtual programs with Columbia University’s School of Professional Studies designed for high school students looking to navigate the undergraduate admissions arena on February 18 and March 22, 2022.
