Hello South Portland,
and a warm welcome to our newest supporters on this list!
We are making history! Last night hundreds of people turned out to attend the SP city council workshop in support of the new Clear Skies Ordinance - all sporting beautiful blue Clear Skies tee-shirts and creating a marvelous sea of united citizens, who spontaneously rose as one in a resounding standing ovation at the first mention of the new ordinance!
“I fear for our future generations breathing contaminated air. I am in awe of what you have done,” said Joann D’Orsay of South Portland to draft ordinance committee and city council members.
Yes, we are well on our way. But please keep in mind that it’s not over yet. Highly paid lawyers for big oil have already threatened in writing to sue the city if the ordinance passes. Our city council continues to need to feel and see the support of their community at these next 3 important meetings:
July 7th, Mon. at 7PM, location TBA
City Council, 1st reading of ordinance
July 15th, Tues. at 7PM, location TBA
July 21st, Mon. at 7PM, location TBA
City Council 2nd reading and voting on the ordinance
Please come to the July 7th meeting and wear your Clear Skies tee-shirts!
