Dear Friends,

Back in the days of the 1960’s, Holy Rosary Church used to have a big birthday party on Pentecost weekend to celebrate the birthday of the Church. It was groovy! (smile)

We know that indeed the Church empowered by the Holy Spirit received new energy and a huge variety of diverse gifts to send out to a broken world the message of the saving victory of Jesus Christ over sin and death. However, Christ’s action after the Resurrection points not to balloons and cake or an easy pie-in-the-sky experience. Rather he points to his wounded hands and side given to him on the Cross.

Needless to say this has been a wounded time for all of us in the pains and struggles of a year that has moved us to tears! So many new wounds, so many old wounds…

As we pray for rebirth of hope and a renewed time of love and service to our broken Church and world, we claim our woundedness not as a sign of defeat, but as a challenge to work with Christ in whatever way we can to make our own wounded lives and the wounds of our Church, nation, and world, the very seedbed of new birth!

Happy Re-Birthday!

Sincerely, with love,
Fr. Tim
Video Mass for Sunday, May 23rd. Here is the recorded Mass for this upcoming Sunday (the Solemnity of Pentecost). We provide a worship aid to help you better enter into the prayer of the Mass. We are so grateful to DV Productions, our Liturgists Mary Robertson and Meggie Moyer, and our cantor Amy Sobczak for their efforts in making our prayer as beautiful as possible.

Recorded Masses Continue until June 20. Fr. Tim and Fr. John recorded a special message at the beginning of this week’s Mass video announcing that next month we will end the recorded Masses. We are so grateful for the ongoing support and engagement that people have shown over the past year. Next week we will share resources that will allow those who are unable to join us in person to continue to participate in the Mass.
