LEMON MERINGUE PIE
Was it not JUST Memorial Day? How are we staring into the face of the next red, white, and blue holiday?

It’s ok, it’s ok. Still plenty of summer to soak up. Plenty of long evenings left, plenty of steaks to grill, lots of berries to pick, ample pies to share, and hopefully some fireworks and maybe a parade in your near future. And speaking of pies . . .

This month’s star recipe is a classic, with a sweet and tart lemon custard filling topped with golden brown peaks of meringue
just like what you'd find in an old-school diner. I haven’t seen Gary’s eyes light up like this since . . . hmm . . . I have to think about that for a bit.

PIMENTO CHEESE

The "house pâté" of the South. Understandably deep, intense feelings are engendered by this spread, and I have to say I don’t know of a food that makes me happier to have in a jar in the fridge. With crudités, on toast, on a burger, layered into a grilled cheese sandwich, you will find yourself being very creative trying to find as many ways as possible to get this into your mouth.

SPANISH LAMB BURGERS WITH ROMESCO SAUCE AND CARAMELIZED ONIONS

Burgers on a whole new level, with loads of flavor and a Romesco sauce you will want to use on absolutely everything. Charlie pronounced this one of the best burgers he had ever eaten.
