Unity Weekly Updates

At UNITY we believe that every student should be empowered and soar in every aspect of their lives. Character, Artistry, and Leadership will always be the essential piece to our program. Now that school has started it is important to remember these principles. Since October is Bully Prevention Month, we will be featuring lessons each week. Look below for this week’s lesson.

October Lesson of the Week:

The Bully Show (who stars in these rolls?)

Bully- the person doing the threatening or harassment to others. This could be a physical or a verbal attack.

Bullied- The person receiving the harassment. They may be talked about or physically violated.

Bystander- This is the person who watches injustice, yet looks the other way. They might even laugh or find someone being picked on as amusing or funny.

Each of these people has a responsibility to STOP!

The bully should stop hurting others and realize that they don’t have to be jealous or hurt others. That this is not the way to gain friends, but it teaches you violence, which will one day come back to destroy you in every aspect of your life.

The bullied needs to speak out and not tolerate harassment by speaking out!

This means when someone hurts you tell a teacher, be very communicative about your rights being violated. Be proactive because most bullies expect you to not ‘snitch’ and take it.

The bystander needs to understand that looking the other way is just as bad as the one bullying. This person is a poor leader and is probably the worst of everyone because you could have helped. Leaders don’t look the other way.

Make good choices. Everyone deserves respect and the right to exist without maltreatment. Help spread the word.

Say NO to Bullying!
