Scientist of the Month:
Marie M. Daly
Marie Maynard Daly was an American biochemist who happened to be the first African American woman in the United States to earn a PhD in chemistry.

The early research of Marie Maynard Daly (1921–2003) included studies of the effects of cholesterol on the mechanics of the heart, the effects of sugars and other nutrients on the health of arteries, and the breakdown of the circulatory system as a result of advanced age or hypertension. Later she studied how proteins are produced and organized in the cell.

Math Camp Re-Cap!
Jewels Academy Math Camp was about helping girls in grades 4th through 8th improve their math skills, gain more confidence in themselves about being able to do math, and teaching them about different STEM careers that uses mathematics. It also was about teaching students about how math can be celebrated and not feared!
