A Message from Dean Cristina Amon

We are preparing engineering leaders, makers and innovators by offering our engineering students rich experiential learning opportunities, pedagogical innovation and leading-edge facilities. Our commitment to excellence has made us the premier engineering school in Canada and among the world’s best.

Starting in first year, all of our undergraduate students work in teams on open-ended design challenges through either Engineering Strategies & Practice or Praxis courses. Capstone courses — including our multidisciplinary capstone course — and PEY internships with leading companies around the world ensure that experiential learning is embedded in every year of study.

Our professors are thought leaders in engineering pedagogy. Through the Collaborative Program in Engineering Education (EngEd) and the Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering (ILead) we study the learning process, gaining insights that directly inform our classroom practices.

The forthcoming Centre for Engineering Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CEIE) will set a new standard for engineering education. Its dynamic, flexible spaces will inspire deeper levels of multidisciplinary collaboration and experiential learning, whether through courses, co-curricular activities or the many clubs and design teams that enrich the student experience.

As the academic year comes to a close, I thank you for your remarkable commitment to excellence in engineering education. Together we are nurturing the next generation of global engineering leaders.

— Cristina
