A message from Professor Siddharthan Chandran

Professor Siddharthan Chandran
It is truly an exciting time in motor neurone disease research. The tide of public awareness and fundraising that began with the ice bucket challenge was buoyed by the success of the moving Stephen Hawking biopic, 'The Theory of Everything'. This has been further boosted by the advocacy and fundraising of MND patient Gordon Aikman.

We believe that the best way to utilise this momentum is through research. We have funded new projects and grown existing studies, both directly as a result of the ice bucket challenge and indirectly through government and our partners at MND Scotland and MND Association. These include our Voicebank Research Project, studies on cognition and on stem cells. We look forward to reporting our findings in the academic literature and sharing them with you through these newsletters. With your continuing support, the Centre will grow in the years to come and make a real difference to the lives of people living with MND and their families.
