What do we do with old public pay phones?
The current contracts for New York City's 9,000 remaining public pay phones will run out on Oct. 15. Google, IBM, Samsung and Cisco are rumored to be among the interested bidders to turn the pay phones into Wi-Fi hotspots, mini art galleries and more.

Office of Sustainability SIRE-REU
The Office of Sustainability is accepting proposals for its fall SIRE Research Experience for Undergraduates (SIRE-REU) program. SIRE-REU awards provide up to $5,000 to support engagement of an undergraduate in an existing, extramurally-funded, sustainability-oriented research grant at UW–Madison. Graduate School Fall Competition
The Fall Competition sponsored by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education offers funding for UW–Madison faculty research and graduate student support in biological sciences, physical sciences, social studies, and the arts and humanities. Wisconsin Clean Diesel Grant Program
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is offering $125,000 under this grant program to reduce diesel emissions by replacing aging buses from both public and private school bus fleets across the state. Application deadline is September 19.
