Sustainability Spotlight

Make sustainability a part of your Wisconsin Experience
When you say Wisconsin... do you think sustainability? Maybe not yet – but sustainability touches every part of campus life. Whether it is your first year at UW or your last, imagine yourself as part of a growing community of Badgers doing their part for a better world, both locally and globally.

What's New at UW?

New Badgers, new bottles
Every student moving into the residence halls this week is receiving a high-quality reusable bottle to reduce the waste associated with bottled water and highlight University Housing's commitment to sustainability.
Water research subject of new documentary
The show, featuring UW–Madison research on how climate and land-use changes affect the Yahara Watershed, will debut Sept. 1 at 7:30pm on Wisconsin Public Television.
ASM bus pass distribution now open
Through September 16, enrolled UW–Madison students can pick up free Madison Metro bus passes with their student ID at the Student Activity Center or at Union South.

Employee 2016-2017 bus passes, valid beginning September 1, are on sale for $24 through Transportation Services.

Featured Event

Campus Farmers' Market
September 1, 2016 | 10 a.m.-2 p.m. | Union South
Union South hosts a weekly farmers' market every Thursday starting this week through October 27 featuring local and organic produce, dairy, meat and more from area vendors.

Food For Thought

Madison's North Side no longer a food desert
The Willy Street Co-op's third location, which opened in mid-August, ends food-desert status for the North Side since the area's previous food market closed in May.
Heaviest climate change burden rests on 90 companies
New research from an independent "carbon accountant" shows that nearly two-thirds of anthropogenic carbon emissions originated in just 90 companies and government-run industries.
