Celebrate sustainability at Sustain-A-Bash
University Housing is hosting the third annual Sustain-A-Bash, where students of all years and majors can learn about sustainable living. Enjoy bike-powered milkshakes and a giant inflatable globe while learning how to live smart, healthy and green.

What's New at UW?

UniverCity Alliance helps Wisconsin cities innovate
This fall, the city of Monona will serve as a living lecture hall for students through the UniverCity Year program, which pairs academic courses, and projects with community-identified needs.
Bill Elvey to leave UW–Madison
The associate vice chancellor for facilities planning and management will be leaving in early October for a position in Texas. Margaret Tennessen, Elvey's deputy since April 2014, will serve as interim.

#DearUWMadison: Connecting campus through stories

The "Dear World" campaign asks individuals to share a meaningful personal message through portraits and videos. UW–Madison students, staff and faculty will have the opportunity to share their stories and experiences during the day, then hear a wrap-up at 7pm in Shannon Hall in Memorial Union.
Slow Food UW Cafe: Late summer bounty

The weekly student-run, not-for-profit cafe is open to any campus or community member and offers locally sourced, sustainable food on the UW–Madison campus. Menus change weekly and meals range from $5-8.

Many urban areas in America are seeking ways to cool their heat islands through changes in landscaping, roof coatings, and pavement color.

France first country to ban plastic cups, utensils
France just passed a law that says all plastic plates, cups, and utensils will be banned by 2020, and replacements will need to be made from biologically sourced materials that can be composted.
