Sustainability Spotlight

Moving Days starts Friday
Unwanted items don't belong on the curb. Instead, bring usable clothes, shoes, housewares, books, and nonperishable food to Lot 45 to donate to UW–Madison students and the Madison community!

Look for other collection sites on campus, downtown, and in many high-rises.

What's New at UW?

1,000 freshmen to undergo cultural competency training
This fall, the campus will test a diversity program with incoming freshmen that officials hope will offer an opportunity for students to learn both about themselves and others.
From Madison ideas to African energy
Madison companies – one a startup by two UW–Madison grad students – are helping improve global electricity access, health and well-being through clean energy.

Featured Event

Donate and Take
August 12-17, 2016 | Lot 45 (165 N Mills St)
As a part of the Moving Days initiative, a "Donate and Take" site will be available for students to drop off unwanted items and take things that they may need for their new apartment.

Food For Thought

The (wrong) reason for America's food waste
The mistaken assumption that eating foods after a labeled expiration date  was likely to make people sick leads to a lot of perfectly good food being thrown away.
Clean water regulations scaled back
Responding to strong complaints from the dairy industry, the state Department of Natural Resources quietly narrowed the scope of rules in the works regarding health hazards due to manure spread on farm fields each year.
