Like the lignin he studies, UW biochemist John Ralph is tenacious but finally beginning to reveal some of his secrets. More than a decade of work by Ralph and his colleagues has finally cracked a puzzle with big implications for biofuels.

Proposed designs for the new master plan include expanded natural areas, a demonstration wetland, and protected bike lanes across campus.
Moving fast to study state waters
Researchers used a real-time sampling tool to study how freshwater systems process chemicals, with hopes to inform local water policy.

Supported by a Wisconsin Open Education Community Fellowship, junior Sarah Krier designed programs to help young people forge a connection with the outdoors.
