Community responds to proposed UW System cuts
Members of the UW community have responded strongly to news that Gov. Scott Walker's 2015-2017 budget, to be announced tonight, will include a $300 million cut to the UW System budget and a proposal to separate the system from the state. What's New at UW?

Climate Quest Finale showcases innovative climate solutions
At the public Climate Quest Finale on January 30, five teams delivered compelling presentations with their visions of novel approaches to help society reduce or cope with climate change and its effects.
Sustainability Forum registration now open
The 2015 Sustainability Forum, Rethinking Our Consumption: Beyond Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle, will take a critical look at our consumption habits and their consequences. Registration for the February 26 event is free and open to the public.
MOOCs promote the Wisconsin Idea
A brief video introduces the six UW–Madison Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) offered this year, which examine human choices and the changing environment. Learn more about the courses and consider signing up for a campus discussion group.

Most Americans say they back climate action
An overwhelming majority of the American public, including half of Republicans, support government action to curb global warming, according to a poll by The New York Times, Stanford University and the nonpartisan environmental research group Resources for the Future.
UW–Stout: Sustainability efforts pay off with less waste, more compost
In 2012, the university removed trash cans from all classrooms and meeting rooms. In place of trash cans, sets of three bins for recycling, compost and trash were placed in hallways and entrances to buildings.
Parody pokes fun at environmental absurdity of K-Cups
Keurig's single-serving K-Cup coffee pods have created a monster of an environmental mess, according to Mike Hachey, the CEO of the video production company responsible for the parody.
