New MOOCs cover sustainability themes
A new round of UW–Madison massive open online courses (MOOCs) will begin in 2015, supported by the Educational Innovation initiative. The MOOCs touch several elements of sustainability, including energy, climate change, and public health.
The first course, "The Land Ethic Reclaimed: Perceptive Hunting, Aldo Leopold, and Conservation," is taught by Paul Robbins, Janet Silbernagel, and Tim Van Deelen and launches on January 26, 2015. Sign-up is now open through Coursera.

- SIRE-RI proposals should address reducing waste of material, economic and/or human resources on the UW–Madison campus.
- SIRE-ED proposals should fit the framework of the Sustainability Certificate and/or address sustainability-related teaching or learning tools.

Teams of one to four students are invited to submit an original concept, which may include innovations related to energy production, storage, efficiency or sustainability. All submissions are due March 23, 2015.
