UW System sustainability leaders to meet for collaboration session October 16-17
Students, faculty and staff from across the UW System will discuss sustainability strategies and solutions at the annual UW System Sustainability Meeting. Discussion topics include:
  • Campus operations
  • Sustainability in education
  • Engagement and behavior change
  • Measuring sustainability 
All UW System students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the meeting. Register by October 9

What's New at UW?

Student facilitators needed for annual Badger Bioneers Conference
Sustain Dane and the Office of Sustainability are seeking student facilitators to help event participants with interactive activities. Facilitators will receive professional training and reduced registration fees. 
Seasonal flu shots available to students, employees
University Health Services (UHS) strongly recommends that all students, faculty and staff get a flu shot. UHS will offer walk-in flu shots through November 4.
UW–Madison tuition balance drops by 41 percent, report says
A UW System report shows that UW–Madison's tuition balances were reduced by 41 percent from 2013 to 2014. Fund balances were the subject of controversy in the passage of the state budget in 2013, leading to deep cuts in the UW System budget.

Walk the Walk

Join a one-hour walking tour of social and environmental justice organizations near UW–Madison. Participants may choose one of three themed tours:

  • Social Justice and Civil Rights
Tour stops include the Wisconsin Women's Network, Sustain Dane, Sierra Club, Clean Wisconsin, WORT 89.9 FM Radio and more.

Comments on MGE rate proposal close Oct. 8
A Madison Gas & Electric proposal to increase fixed charges and reduce per-use rates goes before the Public Service Commission this week, with a public hearing at 9:30 a.m. Thursday. Comments on the plan are due by Wednesday.
