Injalak Curates

Glen Namundja – Old ways

Old Ways curates a stunning selection of paintings from Injalak Arts’ most senior artist. Painting in exclusively earthen pigments, the density of Glen’s brush strokes matches that of his cultural knowledge. Glen’s astute judgment of composition, colour and depth, developed over decades can be evidenced in the nuance and spirit of his unmistakable work. The following pieces depict the juncture of flora, fauna, spirituality and Bininj (local word for aboriginal people). Reminiscent of the surrounding rock art galleries, saturated layer upon layer, Glen extends and expands upon the oldest creative tradition on earth.

Our talented artists make artworks year round in remote Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory inspired by their culture and local environment. All items offered for sale are made in Gunbalanya (Oenpelli) and the homelands. All arts and crafts sold through this store will include a Certificate of Authenticity. We are delighted to be able to share them with you as they become available and update stock regularly. Injalak Arts is owned by the artist members and all proceeds go to our Aborginal Corporation, a registered charity. Buying from us is sustaining our members and encourages them to continue making beautiful artworks!

During the last 6 months women have been experimenting with painting further, depicting subjects which reflect their knowledge about women business, the flora and fauna of the area, and activities which are commonly performed by women in the community.
