Trails Modernization Release 5 Preview to Release Dates

The Trails Modernization program would like to preview the tentative go-live dates for the anticipated Release 5 of Trails Mod - Resource. We arrived at these release dates after soliciting feedback from all impacted user groups in several forums and determining the feasibility of those dates from the project team. The tentative release dates are:

Key Dates

  • First Key Decision for Release Date: Friday, October 18, 2019

  • Target Release Date: Saturday-Sunday, November 23-24, 2019

  • Backup Release Date: Saturday-Sunday, December 7-8, 2019

The program prioritizes quality over speed to a release, so we are waiting on the outcomes of a few key activities to make a more informed decision.  After Friday, October 18 we will announce a confirmed release date. These key activities include the conclusion of an impact analysis of system interfaces and the preliminary findings from workflow testing scheduled next week (October 14 – 18).

Although these dates are not final, we provide this preview recognizing the value of early communication in mobilizing user groups to prepare for the major changes that Release 5 will bring. We hope your organization will make the necessary preparations including end-user training in anticipation of either release date.

We are looking at December 7-8 as the last possible date for Release 5. Any date later than that introduces increased risk from resource availability as we approach the holidays and introduces risk to Release 6 (FFPSA) activities in preparation for a January/February 2020 release date.

Expect additional communications announcing a confirmed release in the upcoming weeks. After this announcement, the program team will continue to evaluate risks and readiness for the release on a constant basis.

Please reach out to Lorendia Schmidt, Trails Mod Product Owner at Lorendia.Schmidt@state.co.us with any questions.

We are also ready to schedule the practice sessions for the missed opportunities with the Train the Trainer sessions. We understand the short notice and appreciate the flexibility you all have shown. Calendar invites have been sent to Super Users for Resource and Provider / Incidents practice sessions. The sessions are 1.5 hours in nature and will focus on the material practiced during the Train the Trainer sessions. It should be noted that the sessions will be identical and you do not need to attend each one even though you are welcome to join them all.
