Ten years ago this month, my dream came true. Armed with an MBA, a passion for fashion and home decor, and a fierce determination to succeed, Fabricate became a reality. From the start, we aimed to bring high-quality fabrics and crafting supplies to the Boulder community, and to take the intimidation out of sewing. I've enjoyed being surrounded by textiles and learning alongside some of the region's most talented creatives. I am enormously grateful for the friendships I've made and the enthusiastic support so many have shown us. You’ve inspired me more than you know, and I'm especially appreciative of my staff, whose expertise and encouragement have sustained me.

Winds of change are blowing though. In September, I'm sad to say that Fabricate will no longer be located in our red brick building on the lovely East End of Pearl. My husband and I will be dropping our sons at college this fall, and as first-time empty-nesters, we are embarking on a new adventure. We plan to travel and explore for the next year and a half. I will visit fabric and yarn vendors from London to LA and hope to delve into all things textile. Fabricate will take a hiatus during this time and while I will miss you all, I hope you will follow along on our Instagram feed and stay in touch. Fabricate will reopen in some form in the spring of 2023 - stay tuned!

The shop will be open for regular business hours, seven days a week, through July 31st. We will offer private lessons and small group classes through August so please reach out if you have an interest in learning to sew, quilt, or knit. You can shop by appointment or order online through August 15th. In the upcoming weeks, we'll be offering amazing sales. First up, 20% off all quilting cottons and flannels, and 40% off select books, patterns, and notions. As always, a portion of our sales will go to benefit non-profit organizations, usually those promoting animal welfare and planet health.

With gratitude and excitement for new beginnings. Happy Independence Day!

2021 Nani Iro
Nani IRO is a brand that transforms Naomi Ito’s watercolor paintings into textiles. Since launching in Osaka in 2002, her fabrics have been sold in more than 15 countries. Her painterly and innovative approach to textile design made this brand a Japanese pioneer of print fabrics featuring an artist. “Nani” means beautiful in Hawaiian and “IRO” is the Japanese word for color and harmony. We're thrilled to have new double gauze prints in the shop.
UPCOMING CLASSES
WIKSTEN DRESS
This breezy dress or top is the perfect summer essential as it’s both sophisticated and comfortable. The pattern includes sleeve variations and optional patch pockets. You’ll learn to sew facings, waist ties, and gathers. This class is appropriate for beginners — those who are comfortable threading a machine, winding a bobbin, and know what seam allowance is. This is a two-part virtual class.
JULY 20 & 27, 5 - 6:30  - REGISTER HERE
INTRO TO QUILTING
We’ll cover the progressive steps of quilt-making in this introductory quilt-making class. Students will practice rotary cutting, basting, machine quilting, and binding. At the end of class, students will have mostly completed their own whole cloth quilt and will have gained the skills and confidence to make more!
