Pysanky, or Pysanka: Ukrainian Egg Art

5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Join us in the Library’s Community Room on Thursday, March 30th, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm for a workshop with an experienced Pysanky artist. The program will take between two (2) and three (3) hours to complete. When finished, you will have your own Pysanky Egg!

Laundromat Library

UW-Madison Division of Extension is excited to launch a laundromat library at the Spooner Avenue Laundromat in partnership with the Altoona Public Library! This initiative aligns with Extension’s value of programming in spaces where families visit, live, work, and play. Laundromats are places where families often gather for a few hours, and these are perfect opportunities to encourage brain building. The books and resources are available in English, HMoob/Hmong, and Spanish, and they provide opportunities for families to engage in positive interactions, such as reading and playing. Financial support from the Altoona Lions Club and Royal Credit Union helped to launch this site in the community.

Foreign Films

We’ve recently added a small foreign film collection. Be on the lookout for the special “Foreign Film” sticker to identify films in the collection.

Self Checkout Machines

Our self-checkout machines have arrived! We have two brand new machines available and ready for use. The updated machines may look intimidating but they're user-friendly and when in doubt, library staff will be happy to walk you through the process! You can always bring your materials to the desk and we’ll gladly check them out for you as well.
