We are so pleased that in the context of our 30th anniversary , artist Bernard Akoi Jackson has arrived from Ghana in the residency studio in Amsterdam. For our celebration we asked one of our partners the Amsterdam Museum to invite an artist from Africa and Bernard Akoi-Jackson has been selected. He is invited to work on the 'Golden Couch' project in the Amsterdam Museum. The exhibition will open in the Amsterdam Museum around 18 th June 2021.

During his residency at Thami Mnyele Foundation, Akoi-Jackson will also present his work at the open studio of the Amsterdam Art Week on 19th June. Afterwards, Akoi-Jackson  will travel to Roubaix, France for the group exhibition 'Sensible Materials - Of Materials and Things'', curated by the Exit Frame Collective which Akoi-Jackson is a member of.

We congratulate fellow Neo Matloga for winning the ABN Amro Art Prize!

Later this year, Neo Matloga's work can be seen at exhibitions at the Hermitage Amsterdam, Circl.ART and ABN Amro's art project space in the Zuidas.

Fellow Richard Kofi  has left the studio. He has done an interview on Metropolis M during his residency in April 2021. Read more

Besides, Kofi is participating in a group exhibition Becoming at Motor Mond Amsterdam from 15th May to 13th June. Read more

Kofi will also come back to present at the open studio during Amsterdam Art Week on 26th June.

Fellow Ina van Zyl's  solo exhibition Among Others at Galerie Onrust Amsterdam is prolonged till 29 May 2021. There is also a podcast program about the artists, their ideas and the exhibitoins at the gallery.

Foundation chairperson Pauline Burmann awarded kighthood

We congratulate our foundation chairperson Pauline Bermann for being awarded with a Royal Decoration Knighthood: Ridder in de Orde van Oranje-Nassau one year ago, for her contribution to the Dutch art world regarding the African contemporary art.
