Nungalinya eNews - April 2017

Dear <<First Name>>

Capturing and telling stories in a powerful tool for ministry. Our Certificate II Media and Discipleship course teaches students how to make a short documentary film and seeks to encourage them in their discipleship. Equipping students with this new skill will enable them to serve in new and exciting ways in their communities.
The first component of the course requires students to work together to produce a class video. Our first Media class for 2017 has produced a wonderful short documentary about life in their communities, and coming together to share and learn together at Nungalinya College.
We hope you are as encouraged as we are by hearing first-hand how the College is able to support the faith journeys of our students and equip them to serve more effectively.
"He wants us to learn more about him. So for me, it is really good that I have been coming to college and learning more things about him, to be close to God."
Nungalinya College 2017 Media Studies class 1: Coming Together
Media Studies class - Coming Together
"Being here again is a blessing. I thank God for this college because every day I am learning all these wonderful things."
Please pray for our Cert II Media students who are now back in community armed with iPads and microphones, working on their next project - to tell their own life and faith journey. We look forward to seeing them again in September when they return to complete their course.

From the Bible

Hebrews 12:2a

Contemporary English Version(CEV)

"We must keep our eyes on Jesus, who leads us and makes our faith complete."

Meet the College Deans
The college has three wonderful Deans who are supported by the Anglican, Catholic and Uniting churches. Each Dean focuses on supporting students from the area represented by their church denomination, although they often work together to support one another in their demanding roles.

"It is such a joy to see the three church denominations working together here."

The role of the college Deans begins long before the students arrive here on campus. They visit communities and meet with church leaders and past and prospective students to consider the needs and abilities of those involved in ministry. They assist students in travelling to the college, and play a vital role in supporting and encouraging students as they cope with health issues, missing family, and other challenging matters that occur as part of adjustment.
Building relationships is an integral part of the Dean's role from first contact through the journey to college, and in assisting students to adjust to an often new way of living on a college campus to study.

"It is an enormous privilege to pray with students, and be part of the process of helping people make decisions in difficult situations."

Please pray for our Deans - Wayne Oldfield, Carol Muller and Tony Goodluck. They are the loving heart and hands of Jesus to the students that they serve.
  • Pray for wisdom in the process of selecting which students should come to the college
  • Ask that they not be overwhelmed in the task of balancing people and tasks
  • Pray they will find the right balance between 'enabling' and 'doing'
"Students genuinely know they are cared about here. They are loved - this is a safe place to come, live and study."
