Nungalinya eNews - September 2015

Dear <<First Name>>

Volunteers continue to bless the College by doing very practical things to improve our facilities.

In August we welcomed a group from Gladstone Anglican Church who helped renovate one of our staff houses.

Led by their pastor, Rev'd Daniel Paulraj (third from right), the team scrubbed walls, painted them, did a huge amount of gardening and generally brightened up the house in preparation for new staff arriving later in the year.

The College saves enormous amounts of money through the generosity of groups like this who give up their time to bless others.

We encourage church groups and individuals to come to Nungalinya and spend some time getting to know us while contributing to the practical needs of the college.

Prayer Points

If you are short on time:

  • Give thanks for the completion of the first teaching blocks of Term III.
  • Please pray for our Board members as they discuss new methods of fundraising to help the College meet the demand for theological education among Indigenous people in remote communities.
  • Praise God for the teams of volunteers like the one from Gladstone Anglican Church which helped improve campus facilities.
If you have a bit longer:
  • Give thanks or the success of our Mid-Week Lectures with Dr Bruce Kaye. The audio files are available for download from links on the right.
  • Pray for the College as it seeks to become registered as an Indigenous Corporation as requested by the Federal Government. Pray the changeover process will go smoothly and a new constitution can be agreed.
  • Pray for the first group of Media students as they complete their work and graduate on the 25th September.
  • Pray that the College will find suitable volunteer weekend hosts for next year.
Become an Ambassador!
Nungalinya College has many great stories to tell of what God is doing among our Indigenous brothers and sisters. With ever-increasing numbers of students applying to study at the College, we always need to be increasing our capacity.

As a valued mission partner, we would extend an invitation to you to be a local Ambassador for the College. That could be at your church, home group, social club or anywhere within your sphere of influence.

We have a new video (see the link at top of page) featuring our Principal, Dr Jude Long, as she tells us what is happening at Nungalinya. Would you please ask if your church could screen it at least once at every service? It's only just over two minutes long.

We also have a longer video of our Board Chairman, Rev Rronang Gurrawarra, telling his life story.

For those who are keen, we even have a PowerPoint presentation that can be shown to raise awareness of Nungalinya's ministry. Visit our website HERE for downloadable resources.

Please consider how you can be a practical helper even if you can't visit the campus. If you do decide to become an Ambassador for Nungalinya, let us know by emailing us HERE
Thank you!

New Promo video
Thanks to the generosity of our mission partner, CMS, we have a new promotional video.

It features our Principal, Dr Jude Long, giving an overview of the College's ministry. Why not show it in your church or home group?

Dr Bruce Kaye
Darwin's Christian Community had a special opportunity to hear from The Rev'd Dr Bruce Kaye in a series of three lectures on the topic of 'Living the Gospel in Different Cultures - Paul as Cross-cultural Apostle'.

Pastors, Bible-study groups, church leaders and even our own students came to hear how St Paul approached the cities of Philippi, Thessalonica and Corinth according to their cultural distinctives when declaring the Good News of Jesus Christ.

The lectures have been recorded and are available via the links below:
