Teachers Workshop a great success

Dear *|FNAME|
Last month we prayed for the upcoming Indigenous Assistant Teachers Workshop. Thank you for your prayers! It was a wonderful time of two way learning for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous teachers. We shared three days together and explored things like the long pathway to becoming a teacher at Nungalinya, what are some of the accreditation requirements to teach courses, how is Nungalinya structured particularly now we are an Indigenous Corporation, how can we be respectful culturally, and what tips can the Indigenous Assistant teachers give about things the students find helpful in class. We also spent time one on one planning out our teaching sessions.  One special time was a morning devotion held down at the Dripstone Cliffs overlooking Nungalinya reef after which the College is named. The Indigenous Assistant Teachers led us in a wonderful time of prayer for the local Larrakia people, and then Bible reading and prayer in mens and womens groups. Everyone found the time a great encouragement.

Prayer Points

If you are short on time:

  • Pray for the Foundations Studies class and the teaching team
  • Pray for Music students and for Lucy Rogers and Peter Johnson their teachers.
  • Pray for the Director's Meeting to be held on the 23rd March - our first one since becoming an Indigenous Corporation
If you have a bit longer:
  • Pray for Jude Long speaking at a fundraising dinner at Mona Vale Anglican Church (Sydney) on 16th March
  • Continue to pray for a new Development Officer for the College as no suitable applicants have yet applied.
  • Give thanks for the over 500 applications received for study, and pray for the Deans as they seek to allocate students to appropriate courses.
New Certificate IV in Theology a Great Improvement
Thank you for praying for our Cert III and IV teachers as we designed our new courses. Our first group of Cert IV students have given really positive feedback - "practical ministry skills', "not working on assessment the whole time", "relevant and helpful". It has been a lot of work and there is still plenty to go, but definitely worthwhile.

From the Bible

Matthew 4:19

"Come, follow me,"Jesus said,"and I will send you out to fish for people". At once they left their nets and followed him.

New International Version (NIV)

Chapel Time
Each morning we start the day with the students with a chapel time from 8.30 to 9.30. These are informal times of bible reading, sharing, prayer, and singing. What a delight it was this week to arrive at work and find the new students all waiting in the chapel for our worship time. While they waited they spent time singing  praises to God, led by one of the Certificate IV students. Most of the staff at college really look forward to the chapels that the students lead at the end of each teaching week. It is a great opportunity for students to share what they have learnt, practice new skills, and encourage each other with action songs, pictures, and dramas.
