What is a Grandparent Adviser?

Department of Human Services now have a ‘Grandparent Adviser’ based in the Northern Territory. The Grandparent Adviser provides a direct service to non-parent primary carers by providing:

•    Information and timely access to DHS payments and services.
•    Effective referral to other government and non-government services.

Please Note: Non- parent carers include grandparents raising their grandchildren, kinship carers of children, and foster carers.

How do I contact the Grandparent Adviser?

Call the Grandparent Adviser Freecall number - 1800 245 965.

This will map directly to Andrew - the Grandparent Adviser based in the Northern Territory.
There are also Grandparent Advisers in the other states and territories, and the calls map accordingly.

If you come across a non-parent primary carer who is struggling with DHS business, please provide them with the Grandparent Adviser Freecall  1800 245 965 number. Click here for more information
