HW Lab gets some HW love (new CPUs)

"Ancient, crusty, inefficient, molasses-like, obsolete, garbage." These are all great descriptors that fortunately you can no longer use to describe the workstations in 003.  Over the break, we’ve upgraded LCD’s and added twenty-five new Lenovo All-In-One workstations in the front half of 003.

Sssh! New Quiet Compute Zone

We've heard the call for a dedicated quiet space to compute. So this winter we’re going to open up 003 lab (complete with shiny new CPUs) to all CSE undergrads looking for just that, QUIET. Outside of the few hours of scheduled HW course labs, the front half of 003 will be open and available to all CSE students for quiet individual study. More details at Quiet Compute Zone.

Banner Pages, Be Gone!

Trees are good.  Based upon your suggestions, we’ve gone ahead and changed the default settings on the lab printers to leave off that oft maligned and discarded banner page. Still want to cover things up and print the occasional banner? Check out How to enable a banner page.

Wherever you may roam...

Ever wonder how your desktop items, your application settings and customizations obediently follow you as you wander from lab to lab (and VDI too)?  Explore the mysticism of how this voodoo works, with this primer on Windows Roaming Profiles.

CSE Support now available via Twitter

Tweet. Tweet. Hashtag this. Hashtag that. That's what people talk like nowadays, so we listened and set up an outpost on the dark side of the Twittersphere. Tweet us about the labs and your experiences @uwcselab. Go on little birdie, do it!
