3030Press is pleased to announce the launch of Yu Youhan by Paul Gladston, the first major monograph on one of the pioneers of Chinese contemporary painting. Click here to buy
Yu Youhan (b. 1943) first achieved international prominence in the early 1990s as a seminal contributor to the painterly genre known as Political Pop. Yet even before then he had established a significant profile in China as a ground-breaking abstract painter,  combining aspects of western modernism with traditional approaches to image making. Yu has since worked through a succession of styles before returning to his distinctive abstract style. Today he is regarded as a pioneer of contemporary Chinese art and a father figure of Chinese contemporary painting.

This stunning survey brings together more than 200 works by the artist, including some of his best-known Political Pop and abstract paintings and many of his earliest, unpublished works.  Yu Youhan is available as a luxury hard case edition and an exclusive limited slipcase edition of 100 copies only, signed by the artist.
