Autumn Newsletter

December 2014

Dear Friends of Pield Heath

I hope that this newsletter will give you a summary of some of the highlights of our term. Thank you to all the Students, Staff, Governors and Friends who have contributed in any way to our life here at Pield Heath.

During this term, we are delighted to have welcomed new students, who have settled in well. Unfortunately, we have to say farewell to Sheenac McKenzie our RE Coordinator, who is leaving us at the end of term. We wish her well for the future and thank her for all that she has contributed.

As the year draws to a close, we look back and rejoice in all the good things we have enjoyed, we also look forward in hope as expressed in this short verse.

The New Year is a challenge, Lord,
A chance to start anew,
But we need courage, strength and hope
And love which comes from you.
Please walk beside us through the year,
And all our fears dispel,
Then, in our hearts, we’ll hear your voice:
“Go forward, all is well”
                                           Iris Hesselden

Thank you again for your support.

Wishing you and your family peace and joy at Christmas and every blessing in the New Year.

Eryl D’Souza

Christmas Performances
This year, each key stage contributed a short performance to tell the story of The Canticle of Creation by St Francis of Assisi. The performance was in Four Acts – Creation, Light, Earth, Peace & Goodwill. It led to the crib which is attributed to St Francis and into a celebration of The Nativity.

Grateful thanks to our Expressive Arts Team: Barry Richardson- Drama, Sadie Hallchurch- Music, Natasha Sackey - Dance, and to all the staff and students for their dedication in preparing the celebration. More pics here.

Empties Please

We have now partnered with a company called 'Empties Please' that gives us money for recycling used ink cartridges.
If you, your friends, family or workplace have any used ink cartridges please send them to school in a plastic carrier bag marked 'used ink cartridges' and we will put them in our recycle bin and arrange for their collection. The more we recycle, the more money we raise so every one counts!

CAFOD

Following the visit from Patricia Morris of CAFOD who spoke to us earlier in the term about Harvest Fast Day we have continued to raise awareness of the work CAFOD does around the world.
To show our support, this term we have taken part in their World Gifts Campaign and have donated Chirpy Chickens and a Vegetable Garden.
