Caleb Has Surgery Tomorrow

Please Be in Prayer

Dear Friend,

Tomorrow, my little brother, Caleb, will be going into Portsmouth Naval Hospital for a pretty major surgery. He has a severely sunken chest that is beginning to push on his heart, and in so doing, is pushing blood back into his kidneys. As of now, it will have no long term side affects, but if they had not detected it sooner, he would have been in danger of some more permanent damage. Praise the Lord that the problem was found when it was!

The doctors will be going in and placing a metal bar behind his sternum and then flipping the bar in order to push the chest out to where it ought to be. The surgery is to be around 3 or 4 hours, but complete recovery will take around six weeks. He will be in the hospital for a minimum of one week. Please be in prayer for the following:
1) A calmness and peace as he goes into the hospital. We have to be to the hospital at 7am, and the surgery is to begin around 9am.
2) For the doctors as they operate.
3) For as little pain as possible afterwords. This surgery is supposed to cause excruciating pain because of what they have to do to the breast bone.
4) For a quick recovery.

Please pass this request onto your churches and friends! Prayer works. I will be sending out updates as we find out. We truly appreciate your prayers. I know he does as well. Cards of encouragement can be sent to:

Thank you once again, everyone. We are truly grateful!
