My dear praying friend,
I just found out a few moments ago that my dad will be going into an emergency surgery at 1:00pm central time. I am still finding out different details as they come in, but from what I understand, he had a firework blow up in his face resulting in the complete loss of his right eye. He will now have to have a prosthetic eye. He was just wrapping up the family reunion in North Dakota when this happened.
It always seems that opposition tends to rise right after a great victory. Sarah and I have been at a missions conference this week and saw very great results spiritually in the lives of the people as well as the church as a whole. We thank the Lord for that.
I know that this is not the most refined letter that I have ever written, but I am simply asking you to please be praying for my family, but especially my dad. Honestly, it would be so easy for me to become angry that the Lord would allow this to happen, especially at a time where I am far away and unable to help. However, Sarah and I choose joy. We will choose joy in the fact that God spared his life, his left eye, his brain, and the rest of his body. We will choose joy in the fact that God is sovereign and He knows what He is doing. Please pray that we can continue to choose joy. Also, pray for my mother, Amy. She had just landed back in Virginia when she found out about all of this. Now she has to turn around and go back to MN where my dad is at. Pray that each of us as family members have wisdom as to how the Lord wants us to go about doing things, and that Sarah and I act with wisdom as to what we can do to help. Thank you for your prayers. We saw your prayers affect Caleb, my little brother, after his surgery. I look forward to seeing how God will work on my dad's behalf because of your prayers for him. Thank you again.
