New Year, Same Goals
Our Dear Friend,
Greetings and Happy New Year! We trust that you enjoyed your Christmas and New Year as we remember what God has done for us in the past so that He can continue to work in our future.
As the new year dawns we realize that we are one step closer to being in the islands. With this comes some hard realizations for Sarah and me. As we celebrated Christmas with each of our families, the reality that this is our last Christmas in the States for an indefinite amount of time began to settle on us. While we were able to joyfully celebrate the season with loved ones, the understanding that it will be some years before this happens again really hit me (Josh) especially hard. I believe that you know our hearts and therefore know that we are not complaining about the task that God has privileged us to carry out, but the fact remains that no matter how ready we are to be in Chuuk, we are not necessarily looking forward to leaving "house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother...or lands...." (Matthew 10:29) Of course He is worth it and His grace is sufficient. These are just some of the realities that we are beginning to face.
We are now joyfully able to say that we are above 70% of our needed support! We praise the Lord for that and we thank you for being a part of helping us get to where we are. We believe that if the Lord allows us, we will be able to leave for the islands this coming summer. Because of that, we have begun to prepare for shipping our goods. Talk about reality setting in! I'm learning to navigate on the fly as I talk to different shipping companies and figure out prices for making the trek across the world. I marvel at how they can get something from Portsmouth, VA to Chuuk, Micronesia! Would you please be in prayer for this aspect?
There are many aspects of planning this move. We need to purchase a 20 foot container; we need to load and ship that container to Chuuk; we need to start looking at purchasing a truck. If finances and support allow, I may be making a spring trip to Chuuk in order to secure a house. We are also already beginning to price out tickets for the move. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom as we juggle all of these things, and that He would continue to provide as we continue to save up for all that we are getting ready to have to purchase. At the moment, we are pricing out trucks to take to Chuuk. Please pray that the Lord would give us wisdom in this decision as well as a good deal. We look forward to seeing how God is going to continue to orchestrate this gigantic move!
Also, please continue to pray for Sarah as she is healing from labor. Milena is doing well and is growing fast! Thank you for your prayers and for the part that you have in this ministry. We love and appreciate you.
Until the Islands Know Him,
Josh, Sarah, and Milena Wagar
