During our language study here in France, each student is required to give a 15 minute talk in front of the entire school. Yes, this is in French! Jeff had this opportunity last Monday and shared on God’s Providence. In fact, God provided Jeff with the skills that morning to speak to the others in French. The providence of God may be defined as His good, wise, and sovereign guidance and control of all things, by which He supplies all our needs and accomplishes His holy will. While preparing for the talk, Jeff took a look back at how God has provided for all our needs during this journey so far. It was difficult to get them all on one page. One provision stood out the most -- God providing partners. That’s just like Him to call us to do something but then help us along the way using other people through partnership.
God has provided us with faithful partners back at home. We are so blessed by all the provisions through family, friends, co-workers, our sending church (Centerville Community Church) and many more back in the US. We have prayer partners praying for us each and every day. We have support partners providing for certain needs back home (getting our mail, paying bills, checking in on our kids, etc.). Our financial partners have graciously given of their hard earned money so we can follow this calling.
God has provided us with partners here in Albertville. The teachers and administration at our school are amazing, they choose to come alongside us as we stumble along the path to learning French. What a wonderful provision to have this school. In addition, students meet with volunteers in the community of Albertville regularly for 1-2 hour sessions, simply to practice speaking French. God has provided wonderful caring language partners for both of us. And of course, we are building partnerships and friendships with other students on the same path. God’s design is for us to go through difficult, stressful times with others and He has provided.
As Jeff looks to start a training program in anesthesia, God has already provided key partnerships even before stepping foot in Bongolo. It’s doubtful the school here receives one, let alone two, anesthesiologists for language training. Jeff and Greg, an anesthesiologist from Washington, have a common interest in starting programs in Gabon and Burundi respectively. God has provided not only a partnership but a friendship--critical as we both start new training programs. Over the last year Jeff and Greg have connected with Kijabe Hospital in Kenya. Kijabe has an established anesthesia training program and looks to share curriculum and other resources. This is invaluable for two programs just starting out. Finally, Jairus, an African anesthetist in Guinea who is returning to Bongolo to help Jeff, is a gracious gift from God who knows both English and French. He has the same desire for quality anesthesia in Africa. This connection could only be possible through the provision of God.
We thank God for providing key connections through people like you with wonderful hearts. A huge thanks to you all for your partnership with us in one way or another. May God bless you for your support, love, and faithfulness.
