Training in Colorado
We received four weeks of outstanding training at Mission Training International (MTI) in Colorado Springs. What a blessing to have experienced staff with hearts of love, teach and interact with us and other missionaries headed to all parts of the world. We received many tools, ideas, concepts, frameworks, and blessings all along the way. We have a packed toolbox ready for overseas ministry. Yet, as the apostle Paul reminds us, you can be well educated, prepared, and full of wisdom, but without bringing the message of Jesus, your actions are nothing. Paul states, “And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified” (1 Corinthians 2:1-2). God, thank you for making this abundantly clear to us.
In addition, the MTI leaders stressed focusing on God, the Father, when entering into cross-cultural situations. Our posture as we transition to language school and then to Bongolo Hospital needs to be first “Father, Help!”. Many times we try to do it first on our own and then fall back on God. Thank you for convicting us to place God, the Father, first.
The one week Christian and Missionary Alliance Pre-field Orientation concluded our training time in Colorado. It was a time to focus on the mission, vision, and strategies of the CMA. Their care for missionaries at home and abroad is outstanding. We love the CMA and are blessed and privileged to head out to Bongolo Hospital as a part of this family. This “alliance” of churches and missionaries in the US and around the world work together to meet physical and spiritual needs of hurting people. Find out more about the CMA by clicking below.
