Chinese New Year

The Chinese New Year (also known as Lunar New Year and Spring Festival) is one of the most celebrated events on earth. On Saturday, January 28 billions of people worldwide will usher
in the Year of the Rooster.

It's no secret that this long holiday can cause headaches for those in the shipping industry. It's for this reason that we started reminding clients in December to be prepared.

So how will Chinese New Year affect your business? We've shared some information on our blog that will help to answer this question and more.

May we take this time to wish a Happy New Year to all of our overseas agents and clients - may this time bring luck and prosperity, and of course lots of food, to you and your families.

Santa's Visit

Santa stopped at the EES office last month which is always a lot of fun.

The team had a fantastic time unwrapping presents and taking a turn to sit on Santa's knee.

With peak season for 2016 drawing to a close, it was a lot of fun to spend this time with colleagues.

Get To Know Us

Making a triumphant return for 2017 is our much-loved blog series, Meet the Team.

We debuted these getting-to-know-you posts in 2014. Not only were they a lot of fun but they also offered an insight into the lives of our team members.

First up is Amanda Bradfield. What secrets will we uncover?

Want to know about any team member in particular? Let us know on Facebook.

Yearly Wrap Up

With 2016 now behind us, we've been reflecting on the massive year that it was.

It was an extra special year for EES. In 2016 we celebrated our 30th anniversary in business marking the occasion with a gala event. We also became finalists in the Fremantle Business Awards for the first time.

Our Managing Director, Geoff Hack, also received high commendation for his dedication to Maritime Services at the annual Shipping Award night.

We've wrapped up all the events of the year over on our blog.
While 2016 was great, we promise you that 2017 will be even better.

No Shark Fin

In a move applauded by the world, another airline has banned the movement of shark fin on board their aircraft.

Air China Cargo has become the first airline from the Chinese mainland to enforce this ban.

They join thirty-six airlines, along with seventeen global shipping lines, to also refuse this cargo.

With more carriers supporting this cause, it is hoped that shark finning will stop.

Busts By ABF

Officers from the Australian Border Force (ABF) have been hard at work during December and January.

In Melbourne, officers discovered heroin hidden inside hydraulic equipment

Officers in Sydney found ephedrine concealed inside novelty alphabet letters that arrived from China.  Two men were arrested in regards to the matter.

A huge haul of pure pseudo-ephedrine was uncovered in Melbourne following a joint operation. Three hundred kilograms of the precursor was hidden among washing powder.
