WORLD OF WOMEN's CINEMA: WOW FILM FESTIVAL 2014 celebrates 20 years. WOW promotes and awards the talents of women directors, producers, writers, editors and cinematographers in the Australian & international film industry. It offers emerging and established filmmakers opportunity to screen short films, documentaries and feature films giving a thematic perspective of ... “seeing the world through the eyes of women”.

In it's 20th year, we are thrilled to welcome Rachel Griffiths, acclaimed actress and director, as this year WOW Patron.  WOW celebrates women's film excellence, not only showcasing contemporary films with key creative input by women, but with so much more.  There's panel discussions, networking opportunities, meeting the filmmakers, a photographic exhibition, conversations with amazing industry professionals, celebrating and recognising International Women's Day – AND we are so excited to announce that TICKETS are on sale!*

WOW and the Australian Writers Guild (AWG) present a Writers Forum with acclaimed screenwriters Jacquelin Perske and Louise Fox at the Powerhouse Museum.

Both writers worked with Lucasfilm on the Star Wars live action television series.

Jacquelin Perske was co creator, writer and producer of multi-award winning series of Love My Way and Spirited and the writer of award winning film Little Fish starring Cate Blanchett. Jacquelin is the 2013 Foxtel Fellowship recipient.

Louise Fox (BroadchurchLove My Way) wrote the screenplay for the critically acclaimed film Dead Europe. She was nominated for an AACTA Best Adapted Screenplay for the 2014 awards and won the NSW Premier's Literary Award 2013 for Scriptwriting.

And on the other side of things, all screenings at the Powerhouse are G rated.  Fun for the whole family! Each day a new selection of highly anticipated short films will be screening with an opportunity to meet some of the filmmakers.  There are more than 40 films to see over the 8 days.

Margaret and Jocelyn will delight audiences with thought-provoking discussion and interesting stories about filmmaking collaborations, film industry insights, artistic vision and Jocelyn’s upcoming feature film The Dress Maker, starring Judy Davis and Kate Winslet.

Join the conversation during the Q&A session that follows their discussion.

After a short break, we get back into a short film followed by a rockin' feature documentary: Rock N Roll Mamas. It follows three indie rockers (Kristen Hersh of the Throwing Muses, Zia McCabe of The Dandy Warhols, and hip hop artist, Ms. Su'ad) who strive to follow their creative dreams and raise their children (9:15pm-11:25pm).

Presented in association with Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (HKETO), the feature film BENDS straddles the Hong Kong-Shenzhen border and tells the story of ANNA, an affluent housewife and FAI, her chauffeur, and their unexpected friendship as they each negotiate the pressures of Hong Kong life and the citys increasingly complex relationship to mainland China.
