Don't miss our latest news and announcements

We work with organisations across the world to help them understand smart city opportunities. Our chief business officer, Scott Cain, takes a look at some of the international work we’ve been involved with recently.

"Happiness is something Emiratis take very seriously. Following the recent appointment of the UAE's first Minister for Happiness and the declaration that Dubai is to be the happiest city in the world by 2019, Future Cities Catapult has been supporting the city in realising its ambition.

I was recently invited to present the Catapult's view on happiness and wellbeing in the city and addressed some issues that will be challenging in the UAE environment. It seems they weren’t discouraged as they presented me with an award, which was an unexpected as it was rewarding.

The World Happiness Report will be published on 16th March and the city of Dubai will by celebrating World Happiness Day on 20th March with various events. I look forward to joining them, along with Jan-Emmanuel De Neve, Associate Professor of Economics and Strategy from Said Business School - a world expert on happiness and well-being. But the highlight will be meeting the Minister for Happiness herself and hearing what other cities in the UK and beyond can learn from Dubai’s efforts.

Back in the UK, we have just announced which SMEs will be joining UKTI and Future Cities Catapult on a trade mission to Brazil. We've also welcomed a delegation of senior city leaders from India to showcase the expertise of UK firms in the smart city sector.

And we have a fantastic series of events lined up at the Urban Innovation Centre covering topics from Intellectual Property to a beginners guide to data visualisation"

And The Winner Is...

Find out which SMEs impressed the judges in our competition to join Future Cities Catapult and UK Trade and Investment on a trade mission to Brazil. This opportunity follows on from our work with Belo Horizonte which identified smart city business opportunities for UK companies in Brazil.

Smart Pune Visits UK

We organised and hosted a visit from a delegation of five senior representatives from the City of Pune, India. The aim of the visit was to showcase to city officials and policymakers the skill and experience the UK has in delivering innovative urban solutions. Find out more about our work with Pune and smart city opportunities in India.
