The Barrett Buzz: News from Charles Barrett Elementary School
Principal's News...
Dear Charles Barrett Families,
I can't believe we are already at the end of November!   This has been an amazing year so far!  I'm so thankful for our wonderful community and incredible staff.  It's inspiring to see how much we can do for our students when we all work together.  I hope all of you have a relaxing break and enjoy quality time with your families.  See you on Monday, December 2, 2019.
Best,
Kellie Conlan, Ed. D.
Food Drive
Charles Barrett Elementary School is holding a holiday food drive December 2nd - December 13th. Donations will be distributed to families in need. Suggested items include instant oatmeal, ready made pasta (ramen, mac n cheese, spaghetti o's), granola bars, cracker packs.  Please drop off your donations in the bin in the lobby.
CETA BUZZ
Second Grade has been using cut paper this year to look at story elements. By creating a picture using cut paper, students were challenged to think about the important elements of the setting.  Since they could only use three colors, students had to think about the most important parts of the plot (including the problem and solution) to be able to make these ideas stand out. Students used elements of space, color, shape, and contrast to create their cut paper.
SCA Elections
Our SCA elections are underway!  4th and 5th grade students who submitted permission slips to campaign have received poster board for their campaign posters (all offices) and outlines for their speeches (President/Vice President only).  Posters and speeches are due on December 3rd by 3:00pm.  Students will be presenting their speeches on December 6th, and voting will take place afterwards in grades 2-5.  We look forward to announcing our SCA officers shortly!
