Blue Mountain Elementary: Update
January 28, 2021

Dear Parents,

I am hesitant to say this out loud, but the last couple of weeks have felt pretty darn normal!  Our LaunchEd families have long since fallen into a routine, and, by most accounts, that is going very well at this point in the year.  Our in school students have also settled in, and we have reestablished the routines and expectations that make this place great.  Even the 20 students we still have logging in from home are doing well.  Most years, I would be yelling from the mountain tops how well things are going.

Instead, this year, I feel compelled to remind everyone to remain diligent.  There is nothing like a little normalcy to make you long for a whole lot of normalcy!  While I totally understand that impulse (and am suffering from it mightily myself), it is important that we don't let our guard down just yet.  While wearing masks, washing hands, and maintaining distances are obviously key to us staying well, we have found that two other key behaviors help us avoid positive tests and large quarantines at school.  First, continue to thoughtfully manage your interactions outside of school and avoid large groups as much as possible.  Second, continue to keep students home if they are showing any signs or symptoms.  We have exactly 4 months of school left.  If we can just stick with this a bit longer, I am confident we can have a safe, learning focused, fun last part of the school year.

Thank you for ALL YOU DO to make our school the great place that it is!!

Stay well,
Stephen

YEARBOOK UPDATE FOR 20-21

Due to the Pandemic and the circumstance of online, hybrid, and in person schooling options, we regret to inform you that we will not be able to create a yearbook this year.  Please disregard any emails from Lifetouch asking you to pre-order your yearbook.   We have been in contact with them regarding this situation and have asked them to cease sending the emails. If you have already purchased one, Lifetouch should be reaching out to you for a full refund.
Thank you for your understanding!

I am so excited to announce that Altona Middle School is hosting the College Funding Coach on Monday, February 8th from 6:00-7:15pm for a web workshop. This event is for any family wanting to learn how to pay for college (Preschool - High School). The College Funding Coach was founded in 2002 to help families better understand the complexities of paying for college and make higher education more affordable. Since that time, The College Funding Coach team has been on a mission to help families save on the high cost of higher education. The College Funding Coach’s founder, Brock Jolly, realized that most families want to help pay for their children’s education; but they often lack the liquidity and/or the cash flow to be able to do so. The College Funding Coach has established an approach that helps parents understand the college funding process, reduce their out-of-pocket expenses, and balance the challenge of saving for college and retirement simultaneously.
This is a free educational web event.  Please register by clicking HERE or on the flyer attached to this email.
The pick up is TODAY from 3:00 - 4:30. No pre-order is needed.
