Research Administration Mentoring Program (RAMP↑)- Applications Available!
Dear Research Administration Community:
After a pause in the program to assess how we can accommodate new modes of working as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are pleased to announce the seventh cohort of the Research Administration Mentoring Program (RAMP↑). We have been working with a group of prior mentors and mentees, as well as Certified Research Administrators (CRAs) across the university to enhance and improve the program.
The time commitment for this program requires a minimum of one hour, virtual or in-person communication per month, over a period of ten months, from October 2022 through July 2023. We will conduct orientation sessions virtually during October 2022 to prepare mentors and mentees for their time in the program.
Based on feedback from prior cohorts, we have eliminated previous experience requirements for applicants. As a result, there is no minimum years’ experience required to join either the mentor or mentee cohorts in RAMP↑. This will allow for inclusion across the range of expertise within the research administration community. Interested participants are required to fill out one of the following applications linked below as well as submit a one-page letter of recommendation from their direct supervisor. The deadline for mentor and mentee applications, which must include a one-page letter of support from the applicant’s direct supervisor is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022.
The supervisor's letter of support for mentees should explain how participation in RAMP↑ will benefit the applicant in their career, beyond skills training that may be available elsewhere at U-M. The letter should also commit the supervisor to providing the time needed to successfully complete the RAMP↑ expectations of meeting with the selected mentor at least monthly, from October 2022 through July 2023.
